The Journey to 13 Straight

Title Number Six: 2009-2010 Season

The 2009-2010 season was a loaded roster, consisting of senior Sherron Collins, junior Cole Aldrich, freshman Xavier Henry, freshman Elijah Johnson, junior Brady Morningstar, sophomore Marcus Morris, sophomore Markieff Morris, junior Tyrel Reed, freshman Thomas Robinson, sophomore Tyshawn Taylor, and freshman Jeff Withey.

With a preseason ranking in first, this lineup would dominate the Big 12 and suffer one loss the entire conference season to Oklahoma State. The Jayhawks would play seven teams in the AP Top 25 poll during their regular season and go 6-1 against the AP Top 25.

This team would go on to win the Big 12 Tournament easily beating Texas Tech in the first round, then 23rd ranked Texas A&M, and ninth ranked Kansas State.

Selected as the number one overall seed in the NCAA Tournament, Kansas showed they had what it took to win it all that season. They would dominate in the first round against Lehigh then suffer a heartbreaking loss in the second round to Northern Iowa by two points.

It was a horrible way to go out. The season ended on a sour note and the entire nation was shocked by the Kansas Jayhawks exiting the tournament early and busting brackets worldwide.
