Following KU basketball’s win over Texas, the Jayhawks have won their 13th straight Big 12 title. They had at least a share of it after defeating TCU earlier this week, but now own the title all on their own.

Who would have thought? After 12 years of winning at least a share of the Big 12 regular season title, the Jayhawks have now won number 13. Year after year it seems less and less likely that the streak will continue, yet it has become inevitable.

Now that Bill Self has snatched up 13 titles, he is in some pretty historic company. The only team that can match Bill Self’s success is the UCLA team of John Wooden, but Wooden only won nine of the streak of thirteen that UCLA has.

With 13 titles now in the books, it is hard to understand how Kansas’ kept the streak alive. With one and dones, transfers, and the four-year veterans, Bill Self has had to coach a whole set of different players.

Since the 2004-2005 season, Bill Self has kept a pretty similar rubric to win these titles. Facilitate a big man down low, lob it in from the perimeter, and knock it down from the post. Though, with Self’s new roster times are changing.

So, let’s start with the very first title, which was about 13 years back. Here is every title since the inception of KU Basketball’s historic Big 12 run that continues today.
