It is very likely that Dontari Poe leaves the Kansas City Chiefs in Free Agency this offseason. Here are some options in how to replace him.

One of the top orders of business for the Kansas City Chiefs this offseason is the re-signing of key free agents. Those key free agents include defensive tackle Dontari Poe. So far, Chiefs GM John Dorsey has expressed confidence in getting that deal done. However, having confidence and actually getting the deal done are two different things.

Earlier this week, I crunched some numbers on the contracts the Chiefs would have to get done. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look likely that John Dorsey will be able to re-sign both Eric Berry and Dontari Poe. All things being equal, I believe that Berry has to be the priority player for Kansas City.

This is actually a pretty decent year to be in a position to replace a 3-4 defensive tackle. There are a number of intriguing options in both Free Agency and the NFL Draft. I am certain that Dorsey and his staff have already been investigating this avenue. However, it’s always interesting to do our own looking around to see what is out there.

Here are the top options I have seen so far…
