One And Done Kansas Jayhawks
Number Five: Xavier Henry
Xavier Henry was another addition to a Kansas Jayhawks all-star team that owned the 2009-2010 college basketball season. Following the 2008 season, anticipated departures Cole Aldrich and Sherron Collins would miss out on the 2009 NBA Draft and head to Kansas for another season.
Soon, Xavier Henry joined the roster as a McDonald’s All-American and five star recruit per Rivals.com. With an already stacked roster Kansas would be the ultimate preseason favorites to win it all and add another NCAA championship.
Xavier would play the full season and average 27.5 minutes per game, 13.4 points per game, 4.4 rebounds and light up the three point perimeter with a 41.8 three point field goal percentage.
Kansas looked like a team of destiny heading into the postseason with a 27-2 regular season record and a Big 12 tournament championship. However, the team came up short of the mark. With that, Henry rode off into the sunset; straight into the 2010 NBA Draft. With the 12th pick of the First Round of the 2010 NBA Draft the Memphis Grizzlies picked Xavier Henry.
Xavier Henry had a decent stint with the Memphis Grizzlies, though it was short lived as he was soon moved to the New Orleans Hornets. During his 2011-12 season he played 45 games, averaged 16.9 minutes per game, 5.3 points per game and lowered his field goal percentage to 39.5%.
During his 2012-13 season he played 50 games, averaged 12.5 minutes per game, and 3.9 points per game while reaching an increased field goal percentage of 41. Afterwards, Xavier was moved to the City of Angels to play for the Lakers. He had his best season of his professional career playing 43 games, averaged 21.1 minutes per game, averaged 10 points, and bested his field goal percentage with 41.7.
After his momentous first season with the Lakers, Xavier Henry dropped to insignificant numbers. During his 2014-15 season he played 9 games, averaged 2.2 points, and was soon moved to the Oklahoma City Blue, a developmental league for the Thunder.
