RANKING EVERY CHIEFS GAME FROM 2016 SEASON: NUMBER 2: WEEK 1 VS CHARGERS (33-27 WIN IN OVERTIME)

This entire season wouldn’t have turned out the way it did had the Kansas City Chiefs not completed the biggest comeback in franchise history in their season opener.

Alex Smith became a completely different quarterback in the second half, making plays right and left.

It wasn’t looking good after one half of football with the Chiefs down 24-3 to the San Diego Chargers at Arrowhead.

The offense couldn’t move the football, the defense couldn’t stop Philip Rivers, and nothing was going Kansas City’s way.

That all changed in the second half when the offense finally woke up and the defense finally found answers to stopping Rivers. On their final five possessions, the Chiefs managed to score on four of them and somehow found themselves forcing overtime with their long time rival.

It just didn’t seem like losing was an option as that point, and Alex Smith proved that, by taking in the game winning score in overtime himself. The Chiefs would go on to win the game 33-27 in overtime and sit at 1-0 after one week of play.

Alex Smith became a completely different quarterback in the second half, making plays right and left. He ended up throwing for 363 yards on the day with two passing touchdowns (one rushing) and an interception.

Not bad for a season opener, but try not to give us all heart attacks next time please.
