RANKING EVERY CHIEFS GAME FROM 2016 SEASON: NUMBER 5: WEEK 10 VS PANTHERS (20-17 WIN)

Heading into the season, a date on the road with the NFC Champion Carolina Panthers did not seem like a game that the Chiefs could win. The Panthers had been scorned in the Super Bowl by the Broncos and had a lot to prove in 2016. They did not do that against the Chiefs in week ten.

Chalk this one up as a game that the KC Chiefs had no business winning, but somehow managed to. Trailing 17-3 at the half, Chiefs Kingdom was frustrated with Alex Smith in his return after a concussion two weeks prior.

The Chiefs went on to win the game with a Santos walk-off field goal.

The Chiefs did nothing offensively the entire game, but their defense finally had enough and took over in the fourth quarter. Cam Newton threw a pick to Eric Berry, who somehow managed to return the football all the way into the end zone.

Berry had to weave his way through the defenders, but took the ball 42 yards for a pick-six. The Chiefs then went for two and converted. They were only a field goal away from tying things up, which seemed inevitable after their horrendous first half of football.

After forcing a Carolina punt on the next possession, the Chiefs offense was finally useful and were able to tie things up with a Cairo Santos field goal.

Things looked bleak, as Newton and the Panthers offense just needed a field goal to win the game. Marcus Peters said, “No way, Jose” and stripped the ball out of Kelvin Benjamin‘s hands and then recovered it.

The Chiefs went on to win the game with a Santos walk-off field goal.

There’s really no explanation needed as to why this game is ranked in the top five. It was an improbable win, but the Chiefs did their best Royals impression and won in comeback fashion.
