RANKING EVERY CHIEFS GAME FROM 2016 SEASON: NUMBER 7: WEEK 17 VS CHARGERS (37-27 WIN)

This game is ranked this high for one reason only: It led to the Kansas City Chiefs winning the AFC West for the first time since the 2010 season. There wasn’t a lot of great moments in this game, it wasn’t the most exciting game, but it was historic for Chiefs fans.

Any time the Chiefs can make Rivers cry on the sidelines is a thing of beauty.

Beating San Diego in the final game of the season also completed the sweep of the AFC West for the Chiefs. They went 6-0 in the division after going 5-1 in it the season prior. That’s a major accomplishment considering just how difficult this division was in 2016.

The Chiefs’ week 17 match-up against the Chargers ended up being the final game played in San Diego for the Chargers, as they announced they’d be moving to Los Angeles for the 2017 season. The Chiefs went out with a bang in Qualcomm Stadium, winning their last three games out there and becoming part owners of that stadium essentially.

Alex Smith had a nice day in the team’s final game in San Diego and the defense managed to pick off Philip Rivers twice.
