MOST DISAPPOINTING CHIEFS IN 2016 – NUMBER 4: JUSTIN HOUSTON

Similar to Jamaal Charles, people might not think it’s fair to have Justin Houston on this list, but I think it’s completely justified.

The Chiefs expected to have their explosive pass rusher for the duration of the past two seasons and Houston hasn’t delivered.

Since signing the team’s largest contract just two seasons ago, Houston has not been able to stay healthy. Now sure, a large part of that blame falls on the Chiefs for playing him in the postseason in 2015 when he clearly was still injured.

Houston has played in 16 games during the last two seasons and has not lived up to the hype. The Chiefs expected to have their explosive pass rusher for the duration of the past two seasons and Houston hasn’t delivered.

This past season saw Houston be effective in one game. That was in Denver when he completely manhandled the Broncos offensive line and had three sacks in that game. Other than that game, however, Houston hasn’t been an impactful player, and that’s definitely concerning when you consider he’s the team’s biggest investment.

Houston did play in the majority of the playoff loss against Pittsburgh (and was covering Antonio Brown on one play for reasons that I’ll never understand) and seemed to be moving fine. Let’s hope he can stay healthy and begin to transform back into that elite pass rusher we loved watching in 2014.
