Bad: Offense

That first offensive possession was electric, but after that, they completely fell apart.

Alex Smith completed 20 passes out of 34 attempts for 166 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. The interception wasn’t really Smith’s fault, as he was hit when he threw the ball and it got tipped into the air for the Steelers defender to grab it.

Playoff Alex Smith didn’t show up for this one. He missed a wide open Tyreek Hill down the field in the first quarter that easily would have resulted in six points. He also overshot Jeremy Maclin on what would have been a crucial catch within the goal line.

When push comes to shove, the Chiefs offense didn’t deliver and had several missed opportunities that could have given them a W at Arrowhead.

The run game wasn’t much of a help either, only gaining 61 yards on the ground. Spencer Ware rushed eight times for 35 yards and the big touchdown run at the end of the game.

Kansas City’s offense turned the ball over twice: Once on the Smith interception and again on a Charcandrick West fumble late in the second quarter.

The Steelers defense did a nice job of taking Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce out of the game. Kelce started to get more involved near the end, but it wasn’t the type of performances we were expecting from those two guys.

Lastly, Eric Fisher getting the holding call to wipe out the two-point conversion was the final stab in the heart. Converting a two-point conversion from 12 yards out is pretty tough and the Chiefs came up short in that moment.

When push comes to shove, the Chiefs offense didn’t deliver and had several missed opportunities  that could have given them a W at Arrowhead. There will be a lot of questions to answer regarding the offense this offseason.
