The Kansas City Chiefs playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers has been moved to Sunday night due to weather concerns.

Moving the Kansas City Chiefs playoff tilt with the Pittsburgh Steelers back to Sunday evening is the best move for the safety of the players and of the fans.

There were some rumblings that Sunday’s game would be pushed back due to the incoming ice storm hitting KC this weekend.

Trent Green was one of the first people I saw to say the NFL would be moving the game back.  Looks like he was right after all.

We should always listen to Mr. Green. (Didn’t Clue teach us anything, come on people)

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport has reported the game is being moved back to 7:20 pm (CST) on Sunday evening.

This has now been confirmed by the NFL. Here is the official statement:

"Due to public safety concerns in light of the forecasted storm this weekend in the Kansas City area, Sunday’s Steelers-Chiefs Divisional Playoff game on NBC has been moved to 8:20 p.m. ET.Moving the game from the original 1:05 p.m. ET start time will provide local authorities more time to clear roads in the area as the weather is expected to improve throughout Sunday. The decision to make this time change was made in consultation with state and local officials as well as the Chiefs and the Steelers."

An ice storm may be hitting Kansas City Saturday and into Sunday morning.  Pushing back the start time will give road crews time to clear the streets before the game.  Delaying the game will also give the Arrowhead crew time to clear out the snow/ice and get ready for the game. This is the right decision by the NFL.  Fan and player safety is the #1 priority.

The conditions may not be great for the players. Hitting folks at full tilt in frigid, icy weather can’t be ideal. One wonders if the Steelers, who might more used to these conditions, might have an advantage. At the very least, the weather may eliminate the home field advantage for the Chiefs.

The Chiefs are still the higher seed and they are not the same team that was demolished by the Steelers early in the season. This should be an exciting game to watch. Now, you can watch it in primetime!
