Parker Ehinger

One of the most overlooked losses the Kansas City Chiefs suffered this year was that of rookie guard Parker Ehinger. While losing a fourth round pick for the season isn’t the kind of thing that would strike you as being huge, that has been the case this year. With backup guard Zach Fulton starting in place of Ehinger, the Chiefs have struggled to run to the left side.

Just a precursory look at the Chiefs running game performances over the year shows how important Parker Ehinger was. With the rookie in the lineup, running back Spencer Ware was reeling off impressive performances. Without Ehinger, it has been much tougher sledding for Ware and the rest of the running backs.

Of course, this is good news about the potential of Parker Ehinger. Winning a starting job as a rookie is impressive enough. Showing a clear improvement to the team by being in the lineup is even better. Getting him back for 2017 should help the Chiefs immensely in getting back to what has been a strength for the team over the past few years.
