Kansas City Chiefs: A Team Not Even At Its Peak Yet
By Ben Almquist
Jaye Howard
As if getting Allen Bailey back weren’t enough, the Kansas City Chiefs will also be getting defensive lineman Jaye Howard back in 2017. One of GM John Dorsey’s biggest offseason scores, the Chiefs originally claimed Howard off of waivers back in 2013. The move has paid off as the former Seahawk emerged as a talented starter on the defensive line.
Jaye Howard has earned recognition for his efforts, even being singled out by Jon Gruden on Monday Night Football. Howard’s play netted him a two year extension from the Chiefs this past offseason.
So everything I said about the Chiefs getting richer with Allen Bailey…just apply that here as well. The only difference being that Jaye Howard might actually be the superior player. Yes, as of right now, the Kansas City Chiefs appear to have four starting caliber defensive ends on the roster for 2017. That may not be the case at the start of the year though as there will certainly be someone in the market for that kind of talent.
