GRAAAAAND SLAAAAAM! (2016 Vs Indians)

Jarrod Dyson was known for a lot of things while donning a Royals uniform: His speed, stealing bases, doing backflips after a victory, etc. Dyson was not known for his power at the plate.

He only belted seven home runs during his seven seasons in Kansas City and only one of those was a grand slam. That grand slam came during this past season when the Royals were barely still in playoff contention after a rough July.

With the Royals leading 3-2 over the Indians in the bottom of the eighth inning, Dyson came to the plate against Jeff Manship. There were two outs and the bases were loaded. It was critical for the Royals not to leave the bases loaded in a tight game.

Dyson gave the Royals the breathing room they needed by crushing a pitch off of Manship into the right field stands. It was his first home run of the season and his first career grand slam. What a time for it to happen too.

Any time a Royals player hits a grand slam, fans are obviously ecstatic, but after the dreadful July that the Royals had (this came in the middle of the month), anything positive reminded us of that World Series season. Suddenly, things were okay again.

It’d be great to see Dyson hit more grand slams in his career with Seattle, just not against the Royals please!
