Brad Childress: Co-Offensive Coordinator

Job Search: Head Coach

Kansas City Chiefs co-offensive coordinator Brad Childress doesn’t get mentioned a lot in coaching searches. However, he has held a head coaching job in the past and is part of a successful staff. Owners and general managers that have missed out on their first and second choices may turn to him if all else fails.

Brad Childress has definitely helped the Chiefs offense. He originally joined up as a special projects coordinator, but was promoted when Doug Pederson took the head job in Philadelphia. The special projects of Childress definitely show up for Kansas City. You can see it in the various formations, developing talent, and big plays they have dialed up.

The real question here may be whether Childress is interested in another job though. He has reportedly considered retirement in recent years, and was talked out of it by Andy Reid. In Kansas City, he can reap the benefits of his work without facing much of the blame for failures. His anonymity under Reid may be what is keeping him around.
