Texas Tech Red Raiders  (11-1) – Saturday, January 7th, 2017

The Texas Tech Red Raiders used to be a conference doormat, but that is no longer the case as new head coach Chris Beard has them off to a hot start. The Red Raiders are intent on building upon the success they had under Tubby Smith last season.

Fans should temper their expectations as Tech is ranked just 85th in RPI, according to ESPN. Texas Tech had some solid conference wins last season, good for fourth place in the conference.

The new coach is going to have to prove that he can win games in the Big 12 as his predecessor showed last season and that challenge will come early when his squad will travel to Allen Fieldhouse. Ha, good luck…

This is no small feat in a division that is always loaded, but the Jayhawks simply will not lose at home to Texas Tech. The Hawks are 16-0 at home against the Red Raiders. Look for that trend to continue in this game.

Prediction: KU basketball wins 78-55
