Best Tigers to Play in the NFL – Number 10: Mike Jones

Mike Jones is the first former Tiger to appear on the top ten list and he spent 12 years in the pros with three different franchises and one year with the Sacramento Surge. He won a World Bowl with the Surge and a Super Bowl with the Rams.

Jones is actually most known for his play in the Super Bowl that year, where he was able to stop the Titans receiver from getting into the end zone for the go-ahead score.

Jones, an undrafted free agent out of Missouri in 1991, eventually found his way to the Raiders organization in both Los Angeles and in Oakland.

After seven seasons as a Raider, Jones joined the St. Louis Rams and won a Super Bowl with them in 1999.

Jones is actually most known for his play in the Super Bowl that year, where he was able to stop the Titans receiver from getting into the end zone for the go-ahead score.

He spent his final season with the Steelers and the Raiders, the team that initially took a chance on him after going undrafted.

Jones’ final career stats consisted of 500 tackles, nine sacks, and eight interceptions (two returned for scores) in 183 games. He might not have the flashiest name (mainly due to there being five or six other Mike Jones in the NFL at some point), but Jones was definitely one of the better players to come out of Mizzou.
