Best Tigers to Play in the NFL – Number 1: Kellen Winslow

NFL Tight End from 1979-1987

Was there any doubt that Kellen Winslow wouldn’t be number one? Out of all of the guys who have donned the black and gold at the University of Missouri, Kellen Winslow is the best to ever go on and play in the NFL.

[Winslow] truly was one of the best tight ends to ever play the game and was THE best player to come out of Missouri.

Although Winslow’s career wasn’t as long as some of the other guys on this list, the guy was a legend at the tight end position.

Winslow had three seasons where he had over 1,000 yards receiving and had over 80 receptions in three seasons as well. He was always making plays during his NFL career and spent all nine years of his career with the Chargers.

The former Tiger ended his pro career with a total of 541 receptions for 6,741 yards and 45 touchdowns. The most yards he ever had in a season was 1,290 in 1980 (his second pro season) and the most touchdowns he had was ten in 1981.

Kellen Winslow was a seven-time Pro Bowler and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1995. He truly was one of the best tight ends to ever play the game and was THE best player to come out of Missouri.

Again… Was there any doubt on this one?
