Second Down: Andy Reid Will Blow This

Kansas City Chiefs fans can be some of the most cynical people in the world. It would be impressive if it wasn’t so annoying. Sure, the Chiefs can drop the ball in certain circumstances…but that literally applies to every team in competitive sports. Even the Patriots fall apart in some cases. It happens.

Over the past couple of weeks, the cynicism of Chiefs Kingdom has been largely focused on Andy Reid getting conservative late in games. While that system has worked more often than not, fans tend to focus on the few times it doesn’t. Those few negative times lead to a narrative that is easy to cling to.

"They had a two score lead last week too. That’s why fans complain. Keeping it close will lose championships."

No, that’s really not true at all. Scoring fewer points than your opponent…now that will lose championships. If you score more points than your opponent, hey, you’re probably going to win the game (in my best John Madden voice). The Chiefs have won a lot of close games this year. Plus, let’s get real…a two score game is NOT close.
