Kansas City Chiefs: How Andy Reid Rebuilt A Franchise

Kansas City Chiefs 2014 Season: Beating The Best
The two words that best sum up the Kansas City Chiefs 2014 season are “adversity” and “promise”. The Chiefs came into the year with raised expectations, but were hit with crippling injuries that ultimately prevented a postseason appearance. However, the Chiefs still finished with a 9-7 record, as well as victories over the two teams that would play in the Super Bowl that year.
While sports analysts joke often about Bill Belichick’s now famous “We’re on to Cincinnati” line, it is often forgotten who put him in that spot. To date, Andy Reid’s most impressive victory with the Chiefs has to be the 41-14 beating he put on the New England Patriots in 2014. It was the worst loss the Patriots had taken since 2005. The Chiefs would also beat the Seahawks that year, though in less spectacular fashion.
Ultimately, this was the season where many fans started to believe in Andy Reid. Despite missing the playoffs (and not having a single wide receiver touchdown catch), the Chiefs had proven they were going to be a force to be dealt with. The needs the team had to address were clear, but also manageable. This team was ready to start pushing for more.
