Justin Houston and Dee Ford

After mentioning the Kansas City Chiefs corners and run defenders having to step up, there is no way I can leave out the most important defensive factor. The Chiefs pass rushers must harass Broncos quarterback Trevor Siemian all night. Specifically, KC needs big games from Justin Houston and Dee Ford.

Trevor Siemian hasn’t had fewer than 30 pass attempts since Week 7 against the Texans. Since then, he has multiple games with 40 attempts, and even one with 50. That is a lot of drop backs, which means a lot of opportunities to put him on the ground. The last time he faced the Chiefs, Siemian threw 34 passes…and was sacked five times, three by Justin Houston.

However, the Chiefs did not have Dee Ford available last time these teams met. With both pass rushers on the field, KC needs to be getting after Siemian all night. Defensive Coordinator Bob Sutton must be relentless in having his guys attacking the Broncos signal caller. The more duress that Siemian is under, the less opportunities he will have to keep Denver in this game.
