Stopping The Run

When the Kansas City Chiefs took on Tennessee last week, it was almost like Titans running back DeMarco Murray was running wind sprints. The Chiefs defense simply could not stop him. That was due largely to the loss of Derrick Johnson for KC’s defense. In his place, DJ Alexander simply looked completely overwhelmed.

The Broncos don’t have a running back anywhere near the caliber of DeMarco Murray. However, Terrance West will be in his third game as Denver’s starting running back. That means he should have a level of comfort with the offense. West is still a decent NFL back and can present trouble to the Chiefs defense. Kansas City MUST be better against the run this week.

The Chiefs chose to designate linebacker Justin March as their player to return from Injured Reserve. March was chosen over star running back Jamaal Charles, so there is a clear indication that KC is concerned about the run defense. DJ Alexander and Ramik Wilson will be tested all game long, and must step up this week.
