Justin Houston: Comeback Player Of The Year

The worst possible news for the Kansas City Chiefs came about when it was announced Justin Houston needed a second knee surgery this offseason. After the Chiefs had lost their star pass rusher for much of the 2015 season, many were counting on his return this year. Fortunately, Houston was able to come back a few weeks ago…and pick up where he left off.

Since Justin Houston’s return to the field, he has done nothing but terrorize the opponents. Sacks, pressures, force fumbles, tackles for loss…he is doing it all. The Chiefs defense has taken a step to another level with Houston back on the field. He’s also getting the hype he needs as many people are already taking notice.

As for Justin Houston’s chances for this award, I won’t say he’s a lock, but he is definitely in the running. The biggest hurdle in Houston’s way is the tendency of the voters to give this award to players who missed an entire season. However, that is not the only criteria. If Justin Houston keeps up his level of play, he should absolutely get consideration.

Will He Win It?: While I believer Justin Houston deserves this award, I do think the voters will give it to someone who missed all of last season. That’s just the way it goes sometimes.
