Kansas City Chiefs: Candidates For Postseason Awards

Dee Ford: Defensive Player Of The Year
For many Kansas City Chiefs at the start of the season, the name “Dee Ford” was synonymous with “draft bust”. The young linebacker had yet to show the productivity that had been expected. However, Ford eventually found his rhythm and suddenly ripped off a string of multiple sack games that earned the respect of Chiefs Kingdom. Now he is a candidate for Defensive Player Of The Year.
Dee Ford’s path to the Defensive Player Of The year award will most likely be based on his sack totals. As it stands, Ford has 10 sacks which is 3.5 behind Von Miller and Vic Beasley. Ford hasn’t gotten to the quarterback in his last four games. So if he wants a shot at this award, he’s going to have to find the form he had earlier in this season.
As of now, Dee Ford is a bit of a long shot to win DPOY. While he is capable of putting up big sack numbers over the next few weeks, the same is true of the players ahead of him on the list. Ford will have to take his game to the next level to win.
Will He Win It?: I think the last few weeks have knocked Dee Ford out of contention. However, with a big finish, he can get his name back into the conversation.
