Kansas City Chiefs: Five Things To Watch Vs Tennessee Titans
By Ben Almquist
Who Starts At Linebacker?
Last week, the Kansas City Chiefs pulled off a great win over the Raiders, but suffered another kind of loss. Star linebacker and defensive captain Derrick Johnson was lost for the season to a ruptured Achilles. Johnson is the third inside linebacker the Chiefs have lost this season, and by far the most valuable. That now leaves KC with a huge decision at inside linebacker.
The Chiefs are not rushing into their decision. Andy Reid informed the media last week that the team would consider bringing back Justin March from Injured Reserve (IR). Then earlier this week, the team tried out a number of linebackers. However, no decision has been made which means either DJ Alexander or Frank Zombo will get the first crack at the job.
If either Alexander or Zombo is able to successfully fill in next to Ramik Wilson at linebacker, that will give the Chiefs a huge boost moving forward. It will mean the door is open for Jamaal Charles to return for the playoffs. This will be a major key for the Chiefs, and they are clearly hoping the answer is already on the roster.
