The Kansas City Chiefs have found talent through a variety of means in the last couple of seasons. Here are the latest uncovered gems for John Dorsey.

Kansas City Chiefs GM John Dorsey has made a bit of a name for himself when it comes to finding new talent. Since his arrival with Andy Reid in the 2013 season, Dorsey has made it a habit of finding players through less conventional means. You see, most teams build their roster almost entirely through the draft or Free Agency. However, the Chiefs leave many other avenues open for exploration.

Jaye Howard, Marcus Cooper, Husain Abdullah, Demetrius Harris, Spencer Ware, and a host of other players have shown Dorsey’s eye for finding talent. None of these players were cut and dry free agent signings or draft picks. For each one, the Chiefs front office had to do their homework and due diligence in locating quality players where you wouldn’t expect them.

The Chiefs appear to have done that again with a couple more new additions in Terrance Mitchell and Kendall Reyes. With various injury and other personnel issues this season, the Chiefs have had to rely on a lot of players they didn’t expect to need. Fortunately for Kansas City, these two have stepped up and turned into reliable options to put on the field.

Of course, playing well in a few games doesn’t guarantee a future roster spot. However, it does grant more opportunities to the player. The more opportunities a player gets, the more consideration he will see for a long-term home with an organization. That is what Terrance Mitchell and Kendall Reyes are looking for right now.
