Ugly: Second Half Offense

The first half Chiefs offense looked like one of the best we’ve seen all season. Alex Smith was throwing dimes right and left and the offense scored touchdowns on back-to-back possessions (back-to-back-to-back if you count the punt return as well).

First half Alex Smith is a guy that can lead this team to a Super Bowl. Second half Alex Smith is a guy that holds the rest of the offense back.

Then, the second half hit, and the offense hit a wall. We saw the Chiefs offense that we’ve been seeing a lot this season, only they were even worse.

On Kansas City’s first possession after half time, Alex threw a horrendous pass that was picked off by T.J. Carrie. The Raiders then went on to kick a field goal.

On the Chiefs’ very next possession, Khalil Mack burst through the offensive line and stripped the football right out of Alex Smith’s hand. Fortunately, the defense held the Raiders offense and they got no points out of that turnover.

Smith threw for over 200 yards in the first half and threw for maybe a little over 60 in the second half. First half Alex Smith is a guy that can lead this team to a Super Bowl. Second half Alex Smith is a guy that holds the rest of the offense back.

We’ve got to start seeing first half Alex Smith in every game in every moment for the rest of the season. We just have to or a Super Bowl will be tough to covet.
