Chiefs Top Raider Week Moments No. 6: 137 Decibles
October 13, 2013
What a game for the Kansas City Chiefs. The Andy Reid era in Kansas City had gotten off to a pretty good start, but this new team of Chiefs didn’t know what Arrowhead was really about yet. So Chiefs Kingdom gave them a nice little introduction. With Guinness World Records in the house, the Chiefs faithful blew the doors off, reaching a record 137.5 decibels.
The Raiders clearly felt it. False starts, delays of game, several big interceptions, and the aforementioned 3rd & LOL moment. All of those were a result of the official loudest fans in the NFL. The Chiefs would go on to win the game handily 24-7, but what people truly remember is the record. That’s a nice little title to have.
Of course, Seahawks fans (in their sound trapping semi-dome) would take the record back not long after. That is the only reason this doesn’t crack the top five on our list. Of course, Chiefs Kingdom would later take the record back with 142.2 decibels, which has now been tested a couple of times and still holds. That’s what great fans do.
