The Kansas City Chiefs host the Oakland Raiders this week in a game with major playoff implications. Here is a look back at the storied rivalry.

In yet another chapter of one of the NFL’s most storied rivalries, the Kansas City Chiefs will take on the Oakland Raiders on Thursday Night Football. This is a continuation of what has often been known as the most heated rivalry in sports. This is a match up of teams that simply hate one another all the way to their core…and we love it.

The Chiefs and Raiders have met 115 times over the years. Kansas City currently holds a 59-51-2 advantage in their regular season head to head meetings. The Chiefs also hold a 2-1 advantage in their postseason match ups. Of course, the Raiders hold the “hardware” advantage with more Super Bowl titles.

The NFL always seems to be just a little bit more enjoyable when both the Chiefs and Raiders are good. That is certainly the case for me this year. I can’t wait for the Thursday Night Football match up this week. Unfortunately, we do still have to wait just a little longer. So in the meantime, let’s count down the 15 all time greatest Kansas City Chiefs moments in the history of this rivalry…

Honorable Mention: He Killed Him

October 16, 2016

Oh man, what a hit. This was the last time the Raiders and Chiefs squared off. Week 6 of the 2016 season was an important game for the Kansas City Chiefs. Coming off of a BYE after being crushed by the Pittsburgh Steelers, KC needed a win in a big way. They beat the Raiders pretty handily, but all most people will remember of this game is the moment we all paused just a second as we wondered if Derrick Johnson had just killed a man on live television.
