Washington Nationals

Just as it appeared the Kansas City Royals were set to deal Wade Davis to the Cubs, the Washington Nationals swooped in to make a push of their own. There isn’t any word yet on just what their offer is. However, back in June, it was rumored that the Royals were interested in top pitching prospect Lucas Giolito.

Lucas Giolito has been a premier prospect since the day the Nationals drafted him out of high school. The right hander has had his critics over the past couple of years, but continues to be thought highly of in general. Even after his Tommy John surgery, he continues to impress scouts and analysts.

The young pitcher possesses a solid mid-90s fastball that sets up a big curve and a devastating change-up. However, his command and control aren’t quite what they should be yet, and that can set him back. He will need to take in some more coaching and work, but he could be the fastest contributor the Royals could acquire through a trade.
