Kansas City Royals fans should be angry after FanSided released their Fandom 250 rankings on December 6th. The boys in blue barely made the top 200, sitting 192nd overall with top fan bases.

When the KC Royals were announced as a nominee for the Fandom 250 that FanSided was putting on for the end of the year, I thought for sure that the Royals were a shoe-in for top ten.

The Royals won the World Series in 2015 behind their rabid fan base. The fans filled the stadium during nearly every game that season and went absolutely bonkers for their team during the World Series parade when nearly 800,000 people showed up to witness the 30-year event in the making.

Rewind even prior to that and you’ll remember Royals fans voting like crazy to get their guys into the All-Star Game that summer. At one point, fans had eight Royals in line to be starters, including Omar Infante, who was absolutely terrible offensively that season.

Having the Kansas City Royals at 192nd on this list is a crime. An absolute crime.

As far as MLB franchises go, they rank below the Cubs (who are ranked first), Yankees (25th), Red Sox (29th), Cardinals (111th), Dodgers (182nd), and Orioles (191st). They also rank below the Cleveland Browns, who are one of the worst sports franchises anyone has ever seen. What gives, FanSided?!

Royals fans suffered for nearly three decades. Sure, that’s not nearly as long as Cubs fans suffered, but at least during their World Series drought, the Cubs would be relevant here and there. They’d go to the playoffs and be talked about. The Royals were nothing for 29 years and their fans still stuck around!

The ranking post speaks for itself on why the Kansas City Royals should be way higher than 192nd in the rankings.

"Historically, fans have turned out well for the Royals. Baseball Almanac states that Kansas City averaged more than 20,000 fans every game from 1976 through 1994. Even during their most awful seasons, the Royals only dropped below 17,000 fans a game one year."

… and boom goes the dynamite. Royals fans kick butt and have been there, even with the team was dreadful. To be gypped this badly is a travesty for Royals fans everywhere.

But hey… At least we’re ranked higher than the Indians and Giants. The Royals also topped Chris Pratt, Survivor, The Hunger Games, and Sex and the City. I guess we should be thankful for that.
