First Down: Injury Designations Are Tricky

One of the most frustrating aspects of the Kansas City Chiefs 2016 season has been the steady stream of injuries. One of the biggest injuries for the Chiefs this year has been wide receiver Jeremy Maclin. Though he hasn’t had a strong season individually, there has been a clear difference in the offense when the wide receiver isn’t on the field.

Chiefs fans were given a glimmer of hope for Jeremy Maclin’s return this week when the Chiefs had him on the practice field. Maclin practiced on a limited basis for most of the week, and that was seen as an encouraging sign. However, the Chiefs downgraded him to “Out” and the star receiver didn’t make the flight to Atlanta. That led to some hurt feelings in Chiefs Kingdom.

"As for Maclin, how did he go from questionable to out on Sunday? Did Tonya Harding stop by?"

While I love a good conspiracy theory as much as the next guy, this really seems like a simple answer type deal. Jeremy Maclin has been struggling with a groin injury for several weeks now. At the start of this past week, Andy Reid said the team was going to test him out to see where he was. Obvious answer would appear to be that he’s not ready to go yet.
