2014 NFL DRAFT

Just a month ago, every Chiefs fan would have been blasting Dorsey for the first round of this draft (myself included), but it’s starting to come together.

[Ford]’s shut all of us up to the tune of ten sacks and us actually missing him when he had to sit out due to injury this past weekend.

In a draft that was highly regarded as one of the best wide receiver draft classes ever, Dorsey went with a linebacker in the first round and his name was Dee Ford. A lot of people were puzzled at the selection, as the Chiefs had Tamba Hali and Justin Houston still making plays on defense.

When Ford began to struggle in his rookie year and still wasn’t figuring it out in year two, the guy was on a short leash when his third season began. He’s shut all of us up to the tune of ten sacks and us actually missing him when he had to sit out due to injury this past weekend.

We’ve gone from begging Hali to stay due to Ford sucking to now dreaming about Ford and Houston feasting together on sacks. Times sure have changed.

In 2014, the Chiefs still didn’t have a second rounder due to the Smith trade, but they did take Phillip Gaines in the third round. Up until this past weekend, we all thought Gaines was decent, but the kid sure got torched in Denver. He had played well up until then though, so let’s give it another few games before we go on a witch hunt.

We’ve gone from begging Hali to stay due to Ford sucking to now dreaming about Ford and Houston feasting together on sacks.

In the fourth round, the Chiefs took De’Anthony Thomas, and I think we’re all still curious as to what purpose this guy serves on the team. His role has been filled by Tyreek Hill this year and Thomas flat out DISAPPEARED for the last two months of the season in 2015.

Aaron Murray surprisingly made it until the end of preseason before he was cut, and he’s now with the Eagles on their practice squad. He never looked very good during preseason while in a Chiefs uniform, and I think the Chiefs did the right thing by letting him depart.

The last two guys drafted were both offensive linemen in Zach Fulton and Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, both of whom started this past weekend. Fulton has been a nice swing option in case of an injury and LDT really surprised everyone by being a steady lineman last season.
