Kansas City Chiefs: Rumors Circulating About A Change At Quarterback
By Ben Almquist
Kirk Cousins
Washington Redskins
If the Kansas City Chiefs aren’t afraid to spend some money, then I wouldn’t be surprised to see them make a play for Kirk Cousins. The Washington quarterback is currently playing on the Franchise Tag, and reports stated he wasn’t happy about it. While the hype is surrounding Tony Romo, it should be Cousins that is getting the attention.
How has he been on the field? Oh, not too shabby. He’s currently third in the NFL in passing yards despite his wide receiver corps being hurt most of the year. Cousins has spread the ball around nicely to his targets which has helped keep the Redskins competitive in the tough NFC East. A good quarterback on a good team.
The kicker here is going to be the price tag for Kirk Cousins. If the Chiefs want to sign him, they need to be ready to pony up. That will likely mean having to release both Alex Smith and Nick Foles this offseason. Of course, if the Chiefs are intent on making a move at quarterback, that is hardly a big deal. Just be ready for Cousins to come with a hefty price tag.
As for his play on the field, he fits what both the Chiefs and the fans are looking for. Cousins will attack down the field and has total confidence in his abilities. At the same time, he doesn’t turn the ball over very often. Cousins is coming off of a 4000+ yard season and looks to surpass that this season. This might be a good investment.
