AFC Playoffs 3rd Seed: Houston Texans (6-4)

The Houston Texans could have been sitting pretty at 7-3 with big wins over the Kansas City Chiefs and Oakland Raiders. Unfortunately, some bad officiating put Houston on the losing end of their Monday Night Football contest with the Raiders. Now the Texans seem likely to be locked in as the third seed for the AFC playoffs as winners of the AFC South.

The Texans, by far, have the easiest path to the playoffs. Already a game up in the division, the toughest remaining foe on their schedule might be the division rival Colts at 5-5. There are some tough games against San Diego and Tennessee, but it seems unlikely that the Texans would drop all of these. An AFC South title seems like a lock.

There is some debate over how good the Texans really are. A lot of people seem to put them in the category of “worst good team or best bad team”. I’m not sure I see it that way as the Texans have played some tough games. Certainly they looked like the better team on Monday night against the Raiders.
