Kansas City Chiefs: Report Card Vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers
By Ben Almquist
It would be pretty easy to just write Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith off with an “F” and be done. It would certainly be a popular decision on my part. However, that wouldn’t really be indicative of how Smith played on Sunday.
While Alex Smith deserves his share of the blame for a bad interception late in the game, he actually played fairly well. Smith went 24/31 (77%) for 261 yards and a touchdown, also adding a rushing touchdown. That’s actually a pretty decent performance, at least statistically.
Smith was also able to connect on a pair of deep passes that put the Chiefs in excellent scoring positions. Realistically, Alex Smith moved the offense almost all day and gave the Chiefs opportunities to score points. However, that interception does weigh heavily on his grade. You can’t give the ball away in your own endzone. It just can’t happen.
