Kansas City Chiefs: Top Ten Draft Targets For 2017 v. 2
By Ben Almquist
Kansas City Chiefs Draft Target No. 4
Marshon Lattimore – CB – Ohio State
Getting some help at corner has to be a priority for the Kansas City Chiefs. Marcus Peters is emerging as a top tier defender, but teams are keying in on the other side of the field. If the Chiefs can make that a bad match up for opposing quarterbacks, it would be a huge advantage. Marshon Lattimore is the type of player that can deliver that advantage.
Marshon Lattimore is an elite level athlete with outstanding ball hawk skills. Lattimore also brings ideal size (6’1, 195 lbs) that allows him to match up with bigger receivers. The red shirt sophomore doesn’t back down from any challenges, and displays the desired confidence of a cornerback. Lattimore has also shown strong coverage and recognition skills.
The biggest question regarding Marshon Lattimore is his health. The young man had recurring problems with his hamstrings over the course of his first two years at Ohio State. The issues interrupted his ability to contribute early on, and even caused him to have to sit out a season and red shirt.
There are still some scouts that are held up on Lattimore because of his early career health. However, as far as his play on the field goes, there is no denying that he is a quality player. Lattimore should match up well on the outside in the NFL, and could help give KC one of the top corner tandems in the league.
