Kansas City Chiefs Draft Target No. 9

Brad Kaaya – QB – Miami

There has been a lot of talk about the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback position this year. Many pundits thought that there might be a controversy brewing. However, Nick Foles ended all doubt about that with his performance against the Jaguars. That doesn’t mean the Chiefs won’t be thinking about their future at the position though. 2017 is shaping up nicely for the Chiefs to make a move on a quarterback, and Brad Kaaya is a name to watch.

A pocket passer with a good head for football, Brad Kaaya is probably the lone bright spot in the Hurricane offense.  Kaaya shows the ability to make quality pre-snap reads and manipulate defenders.  Both of those traits are rare in today’s college QBs.  He shows quality accuracy along with a quick release that will make him an ideal passer in the West Coast Offense.

The negatives on Brad Kaaya are mostly about his size.  He has a lean frame that leaves him open to big hits.  His throwing motion is also a little long, which gives pass rushers more time to get at him.  Kaaya also has some bad habits that have developed behind an awful offensive line, including throwing off his back foot at times.

I have cooled a bit on Brad Kaaya recently. Unfortunately, it is just way too hard to get a good read on him behind his bad offensive line. Kaaya is under constant pressure, and it looks like it may be getting to be too much for him. However, he still remains the best thing going in Miami. His offseason workouts will be vital to his draft stock.
