KC Chiefs Vs Carolina Panthers: Rating the Match-Ups
Defensive Line
The Panthers are downright scary along that defensive front, and it’s safe to say that the KC Chiefs offense has yet to face an opponent with this type of defense yet.
For one, Carolina is fourth in the league in sacks with 24. Kansas City is tied for 21st in the league with 16 sacks, and nine of those are from Dee Ford.
With the Panthers’ ability to get after the quarterback and create pressure, I’d lean towards them being the better of the two. The Chiefs pass rush has been almost non-existent with the exception of Ford, and he’s not even on the line.
Carolina’s run defense has only allowed 620 yards on the ground so far this season while the Chiefs have been very bad at stopping the run. Kansas City currently sits 25th in the league as far as rushing yards goes with 996 yards allowed.
So, Carolina is second best against the run and the Chiefs are the seventh worst. I’d give the edge to the Panthers.
