Offensive Line

This one was close. Heading into the season, Pro Football Focus ranked the Panthers’ o-line as the sixth best in the entire league. They’ve likely dropped a bit from that high up due to the amount of sacks that Newton has taken.

According to NFL.com, Carolina has surrendered 21 sacks to Kansas City’s 19. Newton (or Derek Anderson, who started one game this season) has been hit 52 times to Alex Smith (or Nick Foles) being hit 41 times.

When it comes to the running game, however, the Panthers offensive line has prevailed. They’ve given way to 926 rushing yards for their team while the Chiefs are at 806.

With both defenses starting to get going a little more, the offensive lines could end up being the deciding factor in this game. Which line will prove to be better? I’m saying Kansas City’s is the better line at this precise moment, but it’s awfully close.

Advantage: Kansas City
