KC Chiefs Vs Carolina Panthers: Rating the Match-Ups
Running Back
Ware or Stewart?
Spencer Ware is back in the fold this week for Kansas City, but he’ll have a tough opponent on the other sideline in Jonathan Stewart.
Stewart, a 29-year old running back who has been with the Panthers for his entire pro career, has started five games this season. He’s ran for just under 300 yards rushing and has dove into the end zone four times.
Stewart will have a big day due to the Chiefs run defense flat out sucking.
Originally I was going to give Stewart and the Panthers the advantage in this match-up, but then I looked at Spencer Ware’s stats so far this season and had to go with him.
Ware has started seven games for the Chiefs and has 511 yards on the ground along with two touchdowns. He’s also caught a pass for a touchdown as well.
The Chiefs haven’t been able to really get their running game going much lately, which is another reason I was going to lean towards Stewart.
Stewart will have a big day due to the Chiefs run defense flat out sucking, but Ware is probably the guy most people would want leading their team in the run game. He’s younger and has had less injuries.
If this were which run game will have more success, I’d pick Carolina. Their run defense is insanely good and that will likely hamper Ware having a huge day. I still think Ware is the more talented back though.
