Bad: Turnovers Everywhere

Perhaps the biggest problem the Missouri Tigers had on Saturday was holding onto the ball.  Two interceptions and three fumbles (though just one lost) was the final bill.  That is a big problem, especially when you aren’t forcing the other team to give the ball away.  Many times, the turnover battle will be reflective of who wins the game.  That was the case this week.

The fumble by Dimetrios Mason was particularly painful because it led to a quick touchdown for South Carolina.  When mistakes lead to points for the opponent, they become that much worse.  That was certainly the case this week.  The same would be true later in the game when Drew Lock threw an interception.  The Gamecocks proceeded to drive down the field and put up seven points.

The final turnover the game was also the nail in the coffin.  Drew Lock sailed a pass high and it was picked off in the endzone by the Gamecocks.  From there, South Carolina would simply run out the clock and end the game.  So all three Mizzou turnovers would play a substantial role in the loss.
