Bad: Defense Fails To Hold Gamecocks

While the Missouri Tigers pass rush was able to find its mark, the same cannot be said for the rest of the defense.  The Gamecocks seemed to be able to score at will against Mizzou.  On top of that, the Tigers were simply unable to force any kind of turnover.  That was despite the fact they had little problem getting into the offensive backfield.

What was particularly bad for the Tigers was the fact that the Gamecocks didn’t hide their intentions on offense.  South Carolina channeled most of their production through running back Rico Dowdle and wide receiver Deebo Samuel.  However, Mizzou was unable to do much of anything to contain either player.

The fact that the Gamecocks were able to get big production from both the running and passing game was a huge factor this week.  Being able to move the ball almost at will in both aspects will make it tough on any defense.  Freshman quarterback Jake Bentley had a very efficient day for South Carolina.  The Tigers defense was just a mess for most of the game.
