Secondary

When many think about a team’s secondary, they’re thinking of a couple of things:

  1. How many passing yards the quarterback throws for against them
  2. How many interceptions they can grab

Kansas City has been pretty good at the third option and currently lead the league in interceptions with 11 total. Jacksonville, on the other hand, is tied for 27th in the league in picks, with a measly three so far in seven games.

Turnovers can change the tempo of a game.

As for the other aspect I listed above, Jacksonville actually has the edge over our Chiefs. They’re currently ranked eighth in the league in passing yards allowed with 1,572 in seven games. Kansas City has given up 1,714 yards in seven games.

Now, of course, a lot of the damage for the Chiefs came in that Sunday night game against the Steelers, but I’m not one to make excuses. The Chiefs secondary was bad in that one.

The KC secondary has performed much better since that game though. Turnovers can change the tempo of a game, and with the Chiefs’ ability to pick off whoever is throwing the football on any given Sunday, I still would give them the edge in this one.

Plus… Marcus Peters is a Chief. ‘Nuff said.

Advantage: Kansas City
