The KC Chiefs will host the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday afternoon at Arrowhead Stadium. Which position holds the advantage on each side?

The Kansas City Chiefs have been attacked with injuries to key players in the last few days. Those players include Alex Smith, Spencer Ware, Jamaal Charles, and Parker Ehinger, none of whom will play on Sunday against Jacksonville.

While injuries would usually cause concern for almost any team, the KC Chiefs caught a break this week by playing the 2-5 Jacksonville Jaguars at Arrowhead.

Now obviously anything can happen. This is the NFL after all. But it’s tough for Chiefs fans not to feel confident about this weekend due to the depth John Dorsey has built within this year’s team.

Let’s take a look at the match-ups for this weekend’s game against the Jaguars.

Quarterback

Foles or Bortles?

For the first time this season, Alex Smith will not start for the Kansas City Chiefs.

In his place will be Nick Foles, who signed with the team during the offseason and will be making his first start for the Chiefs.

Bortles was decent in his sophomore season of the pros, but has vastly disappointed this year.

Foles looked good in relief of Smith last week against the Colts, throwing for over 200 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He did exactly what Andy Reid and the coaching staff expected him to do when they signed him to a one-year deal this offseason.

On the other sideline, there’s Blake Bortles. Bortles was the third overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft and many, myself included, were excited about the talent he possessed coming out of college.

Bortles was decent in his sophomore season of the pros, but has vastly disappointed this year. He’s thrown for over 1,900 yards,12 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. A lot of Jacksonville’s future hinges on Blake Bortles’ production in their offense and he hasn’t shown that potential so far in 2016.

The Chiefs haven’t seen Bortles yet in his career, so he could end up surprising them come Sunday. I still think Foles is the guy most people would rather have starting for their team on Sunday.

Advantage: Kansas City (even with a backup starting)
