Kansas City Chiefs: Black Tuesday Leaves Chiefs Kingdom Shocked
By Ben Almquist
The Kansas City Chiefs dropped a lot of headlines on Chiefs Kingdom yesterday. Unfortunately, most of them were not the headlines Chiefs fans were hoping for.
The Kasas City Chiefs are in the midst of a tight division race. Most media outlets now believe KC to be one of the best teams in the NFL…except ESPN. That should have made for a great Tuesday in Chiefs Kingdom. Unfortunately, the team began dropping news, and almost none of it was good. The results had many Cheifs fans referring to the day as “Black Tuesday”.
Your more cynical Chiefs fans (which may be the majority of the fan base at this point) were probably expecting this. Things were simply going to good in Kansas City. Something had to give. Well, give it did, and in a rough way.
Things didn’t start out that bad. It was announced that the Chiefs had signed running back Bishop Sankey. Not a blockbuster move by any means, but still a quality addition given the expected needs of the team. From there though, it went downhill fast. In less than two hours, it was announced that star running back Jamaal Charles and starting guard Parker Ehinger were both headed to Injured Reserve (IR).
Along with the two big injuries, it was announced that both Sam Barrington and Sio Moore were being released. Neither will be regarded as huge news, but both now register as wasted signings. Both Barrington and Moore saw very little of the field. Instead, Ramik Wilson reclaimed his spot after being replaced by Barrington on the roster to start the season.
We’ll take a closer look at all the moves from Tuesday…
