While the best case scenario is for Kendrys Morales to return to the Kansas City Royals, the chances of that happening aren’t great.

Another team to consider here is Baltimore, who might be losing Mark Trumbo to free agency this winter. The Orioles could certainly use a talented designated hitter and Morales could fit that mold.

We know that Morales will sign with an American League team due to his DH abilities, so that automatically eliminates half of the MLB teams.

The Red Sox or Yankees make the most sense though. Both are teams that have the cash to pony up to the player and both are successful franchises.

The Athletics aren’t a good team, but Morales could be utilized there at the designated hitter spot.

While Toronto has other options at the DH position, Morales is the type of player they’ve been prone to have on their team. He’d make sense there, but Royals fans will obviously hope that doesn’t happen.

As for the Royals, I’m hopeful that Kendrys Morales will re-join his boys in blue for the 2017 season (at least) for one last run at a World Series with this core group, but I’m not the most optimistic about it.

Even if he did return to Kansas City, a $16.2 million contract for one year would put the Royals in a deep hole and could prevent them from signing key guys like Danny Duffy, Eric Hosmer, and Mike Moustakas.

What do you think, Royals fans? Will Kendrys Morales sign with one of these teams or am I completely off the mark?
