KC Royals: Five Potential Landing Spots for Kendrys Morales

The following year, he really struggled to start the year, but ended up batting .327 and hit 30 home runs. He was the first member of the KC Royals to hit 30 home runs since Jermaine Dye did it in 2000.
So with all of this said, it’s time to note that Morales is now a free agent. The Royals have a mutual option with Morales at $11 million, which he more than likely will reject. If he opts out, then the Royals can extend a qualifying offer to him, worth $16.2 million.
Joel Wagler wrote a nice piece on the Royals’ payroll situation, which is where I got my above sources from, and he mentioned that the Royals would be dumb not to extend this offer to Kendrys. Even if he rejects the offer, they’d still get a conditional draft pick. If they don’t extend it, they leave with nothing.
So while there’s a chance that Kendrys Morales returns to Kansas City, it’s low on the list of destinations for him to sign with next year. Let’s look at some of the possible landing spots for one Kendrys Morales.
