Could Nick Foles Be Traded?

Just moments after Nick Foles threw his first touchdown for the Kansas City Chiefs, trade scenarios began popping up.  Obviously, the assumption there is that Alex Smith will be fine and back on the field next week.  While I hope that is true, it certainly isn’t a guarantee by any means.  However, a Nick Foles trade could be an avenue pursued by the Chiefs front office.

John Dorsey is an active trader when it comes to acquiring talent.  That includes several instances this year, such as the recent trade of Knile Davis to the Packers.  However, time is not on the side of the Kansas City Chiefs.  The NFL trade deadline is this Tuesday.  That gives the Chiefs very little time to get a clean bill of health for Alex Smith.

Another possibility here though would be an offseason trade.  The Chiefs could use the salary cap relief, and there are always teams looking for quarterback help in the offseason.  Acquiring another player or draft pick(s) should certainly appeal to the Chiefs.  Giving up their backup quarterback to do it is not a huge price to pay.
