Good: Jesse Ertz

This was one of the best games of Jesse Ertz’s career. The Kansas State Wildcats knew they’d need to take advantage of the Cyclones’ weak run defense and they did that both with their run game as well as with designed quarterback runs.

Ertz had long run after long run and looked very comfortable taking the ball and using his legs to make plays for the Cats. He led the team in rushing on Saturday with 106 yards on the ground.

Ertz also had an impressive day slinging the football as well. His arm hasn’t been great, but a lot of that could be due to his shoulder not having full strength. Ertz made some nice throws and had some clutch tosses to his receivers, especially on third down. He went 18 of 28 for 151 yards and a touchdown.

I’ve been pretty tough on the young quarterback this season, but he looked a lot better in this game. I know this was against a not-so-great Iowa State defense, but Ertz showed K-State fans something in this one.
