Kansas City Chiefs: Five Trades To Consider Before the Deadline
By Ben Almquist
Tramaine Brock – CB – San Francisco 49ers
Chiefs Give: DeAnthony Thomas – WR
Getting help for the secondary really should be the focus of the Kansas City Chiefs front office. With Phillip Gaines health being unreliable, there is just too much pressure on players who still need experience. The better passing teams in the NFL are going to be able to take advantage of them. Adding a guy like Tramaine Brock would add some valuable talent into the mix.
The 49ers are a common trading partner for the Kansas City Chiefs. That should at least mean communication lines are open. The 49ers need a full rebuild, but have not really gotten started. It is already rumored that Tramaine Brock may not be looking to stay in San Francisco. That means the 49ers should be looking to get what they can from him.
This deal works well for both teams. The 49ers will get a low cost player that is a familiar fit for Chip Kelly, and should be easy to re-sign in DeAnthony Thomas. The Chiefs get a solid corner that can play inside or outside, which will provide flexibility to the defense. This is the kind of mutually beneficial deal that these two teams have worked out in the past.
